Shrinkage Mould Features

The mould, which has a 25mm x 25mm x 25mm effective gauge length, is made of mild steel and has accurately machined faces. The parts of the moulds are tight-fitting and firmly held together when assembled. It is supplied complete with a base plate and four smooth stainless steel reference pins.

A linear shrinkage mould is filled with the soil under test. This is then dried, and the resulting decrease in the length of the specimen measured is expressed as the linear shrinkage. It measures 25mm in diameter, 12.5mm in height, and 140mm in length.
